Refining

Making space for what should continue.

REFINING

Life gathers around us — habits, expectations, unfinished thoughts, changing relationships and ways of moving that may no longer fit.

REFINING is a practice of paying attention to what has accumulated, recognising what still carries meaning, and allowing the rest to loosen.

It is not a search for perfection.

It is a way of returning with greater clarity to ourselves, to one another and to the life taking shape around us.

A living practice

REFINING moves through reflection and participation.

We notice what is present.

We consider what is asking to change.

We release what no longer needs to be carried.

We make room for a more deliberate next movement.

The practice may take place privately, through a shared prompt, inside the SUNDAZE app, or through a gathering shaped by sound, stillness, conversation and collective presence.

Within, between and around us

Some forms of refinement begin within: in attention, rhythm and personal choice.

Others emerge between people: through honesty, listening, boundaries, repair and renewed connection.

Others belong to the environments we share: the cultures, gatherings and systems we continue to shape together.

REFINING holds these layers without reducing them to a score, diagnosis or fixed interpretation.

FROM THE FIRST FLOATING GATHERINGA shared passage into silence.

The first REFINING gathering took shape on the water in Berlin, marking the passage from one year of SUNDAZE into the next. Participants gathered first on the shore.

The shared silence began as we started boarding the transfer boat. Phones were set aside, conversation stopped, and it did not return.

In silence we crossed the water, arrived at the floating space, and took our seats facing the open water.

Sergio Díaz de Rojas performed with his back toward the gathering, facing the water — offering sound outward into the open space while we listened from behind, together.

The silence held through the return crossing and the disembarkation. Speaking resumed only once every participant had returned to land.

Silence here was a shared agreement — a way of protecting attention, respect and presence — never a rule imposed or a spiritual exercise.

From shore to shore, the entire passage was shaped as one continuous experience.
